While we celebrate Black excellence and its contributions to the world 365/24/7, the heightened focus during Black History Month beckons deeper, more intentional, soul 2 soul, Sankofa-bred connections.
From past to present, an intrinsic ingredient in Black excellence is unbridled awareness that despite mainstream’s deep-seated fear of us KNOWING it, OWNING it and LIVING it – WE ARE WORTHY.
Knowing they were born worthy, our ancestors excelled when doing so meant risking life and limb.
From their untouchable worth flowed strength, courage and wisdom to express brilliance, creativity and innovation.
In their honor, dear descendants, you are invited to join this FUBU (FOR US, BY US) -inspired crusade that honors their worthiness and ours – individually and collectively.
With a heart overflowing with gratitude, pride and love for the skin I AM in, I introduce you to WORTHISTE. (pronounced worthy-stay)
What is WORTHISTE?
WORTHISTE is a movement. It’s a vibe. It’s a celebration of our ONENESS.
WORTHISTE is extending GRACE and standing on LOVE.
WORTHISTE puts faith in our fist bumps and divinity in our daps.
WORTHISTE takes the head nod higher, to cosmic levels.
When you rock a WORTHISTE T-shirt, you send a powerful message to every brother and sister you encounter that you see their WORTH while also celebrating your own.
WORTHISTE is a powerful countermeasure to the country’s longstanding, fundamentally brutal agenda to destroy Blacks’ worth, but WORTHISTE is not about America.
WORTHISTE is about capturing the soulful energy pulsating in the hearts, minds and souls of the most creative, brilliant, and amazing people on the planet.
WORTHISTE lifts us above the fray with a Harlem Renaissance-type synergy fused with unbridled dreams from Harriett, Malcolm, Ida, Nat and ‘em propelling us onward.
WORTHISTE is me.
WORTHISTE is you.
WORTHISTE is the best of us.
WORTHISTE is the best that’s yet to be.
WORTHISTE is believing in, wanting and expecting the best for each other.
WORTHISTE is writing our own sacred narrative.
WORTHISTE is what Brother Hezekiah means when he sings “I pray for you. You pray for me. I love you. I need you to survive. I won’t harm you with words from my mouth. I love you. I need you to survive.”
WORTHISTE is here, now.
